Just watched 2 new episodes of navy crap. Soooo cool. They had a new car - a Dodge Charger, which was actually shaggable, it was so sexy. growl growl.

My day

Well what have I to report? It's cold - really really cold. Apart from when I decided to cycle into town on my old modern blue bike. Now my blue bike was bought a couple of years ago from Halfords, being the cheapest-but-one model. It was fine, then I fell in love with a sexy 1970's Raleigh, which obviously I had to buy. I have only used the Raleigh this term, until today, when I thought I would use the blue one to see if it was still ok.
Well that was a mistake anyway. I have never been so physically exhausted in all my life - absolutely knackered and boiling hot!! It is far too small, the tyres are too fat, the wheels are too small, the gears are hard, the basket's too small, and generally I feel like an idiot on it. I had never noticed before how much more respect I got with a proper old-style city bike and a wicker basket. I felt like I was a total contemptuous commoner, which is precisely how I feel towards be-mountain-biked people when I am riding the beautiful bike. Hmph.
I fear I may try and sell the blue one.

That was a really crap rant! Suffice it to say I was in a really crappy mood when I got back - one hour to go to post office and bank.

Anyway, rant number 2, leading on from this: the Cambridge post office. WHY are the cashiers so slow? And why does the person in front of me always have to be the one with the 20 bags of one-penny pieces that need to be weighed, whereupon the cashier discovers a 0.0001g discrepancy resulting in a 5 minute painstaking job to find the offending foreign coin that miraculously evaded prior detection and disguised itself as a penny? Grrrr.

On a lighter note, I am nicely ahead with work, so I can afford to not do much in the evenings this week (which is good, as I have plans!). Starting equity tomorrow, which should be mildly interesting, though am opting out of reading the best book (at 141 pages) and reading a different one at a much more reasonable 60 pages instead. Because 141 pages for one supervision is silly.

Tomorrow I have my usual Tuesday fun of 4 hours taught time, resulting in doing basically bugger all work. But I do have formal later, which is V exciting as I haven't been for ages...

Ooh...

deeply exciting - it DOES! Woo!
Just testing to see whether the email-to-blog thing works...

First Entry

Hello. I decided that I fancied a REAL blog, somewhere to actually put down my thoughts and general stuff, without worrying that people are going to get pissed off about me clogging up their friends pages on livejournal.

So.. what excitement can I share with the world? Well I went to get B's birthday presents today, and cycled all the way to Tesco to get some shopping. I also got some sexy leather gloves for £8 from there, so I look like a sinister murderer now. ha ha ha!

I'll be back...
